#The Energy Challenge Facing Manufacturing Businesses

The GWS GIANTS operate a high demand sports centre supporting AFL, AFLW, VFL and community programs, alongside an aquatic centre and other energy-intensive facilities.

Over a 12-month period, energy consumption had doubled, driven by the aquatic centre, oval lighting, video board and a HVAC system operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The club needed a commercial solar power solution that could help reduce long-term electricity costs and support its broader renewable energy goals.

Just as importantly, the installation had to work around GIANTS football operations. Deliveries, crane work and installation of the roof solar panels were carefully coordinated to minimise disruption to training, staff and day-to-day activity.

Sharp EIT Solutions delivered a 139kW commercial solar power system across the GWS GIANTS aquatic centre and administration building.

The project was carefully planned around football training, athlete schedules and daily facility operations, with deliveries, drilling and crane work coordinated to minimise disruption.

The new roof top solar power system also includes real-time monitoring, giving the club visibility over generation, consumption and ongoing system performance.
