Commercial Solar Rebates for Sydney Businesses
Every commercial solar proposal for our Sydney and NSW customers includes a clear breakdown of applicable incentives, so you can see your real net cost before you decide.
- Eligible commercial solar systems can receive an upfront discount through STCs. The Australian Government has announced plans to expand the SRES to eligible solar PV systems above 100kW and up to 1MW from 1 October 2026, subject to the necessary regulations being in place.
- Larger eligible commercial solar systems may generate LGCs for renewable electricity produced. Eligibility will depend on system size, accreditation and the applicable scheme requirements, particularly as the SRES changes from October 2026.
- Tax deductions - Eligible businesses may be able to claim depreciation or other tax deductions for commercial solar investment under applicable ATO rules. Speak with your accountant or tax adviser about the treatment that applies to your business.

#Commercial Solar in Sydney FAQs
Commercial solar costs in Sydney vary depending on system size, roof condition, site access, electrical infrastructure, equipment and network requirements. As a guide, commercial solar systems typically fall within a broad installed range of around $650–$1,200 per kW, with larger systems generally achieving a lower cost per kW. Sharp EIT provides site-specific modelling so you can see the expected project cost, available incentives, savings and payback before proceeding.
The right commercial solar system size for a Sydney business depends on your interval data, operating hours, available roof or land area, electricity tariffs and network constraints. Sharp EIT models when and how your business uses power, then recommends a system size designed to maximise onsite solar use, expected savings and financial return rather than relying on a simple bill-to-kW formula.
Commercial solar installation timelines in Sydney depend on system size, site complexity, network approvals and any required electrical or structural works. Smaller rooftop systems can generally be installed more quickly, while larger industrial, car park and ground-mount projects require longer engineering and delivery programs. Sharp EIT confirms the expected approval and installation timeline during your site assessment, with works planned to minimise disruption to your business.
Yes. Sydney businesses can often install commercial solar on leased premises with the landlord’s approval. The agreement should clearly address system ownership, access, maintenance and what happens at the end of the lease. Sharp EIT can assess the site and provide the technical and financial information you may need to discuss the project with your landlord. Read more: solar for renters vs owners.
Commercial solar warranties vary by the panels, inverters and other equipment selected. Sharp EIT confirms the applicable manufacturer warranties and workmanship warranty in writing as part of your proposal, so you know exactly what is covered before installation begins.
